What is the meaning of the phrase “at my wits end”?

When someone says that they are “at their wit’s end”, what does that mean exactly? Well, it means that they are stuck trying to solve a problem, and they have exhausted their mind trying to come up with a possible solution. Wit is used to basically mean “ability to think” or intelligence. So, some synonyms for “at my wit’s end” are “I’ve tried to think of everything”, and “I’ve used my intelligence to my full ability”.
