Does Google return different results for phones?

It really depends on the search that you are doing. For certain searches, the answer is yes, Google does return different results when you search on a mobile phone as opposed to searching on your
desktop or laptop. The reason is that Google factors your location into the mobile phone
searches – so for location sensitive searches, Google will adjust the search results to make them more appropriate.

Example of different Google search results

An example of when search results are ranked differently for a mobile phone versus a computer is this: Let’s say you do a search for Wal-Mart on a computer. Then Google will assume that you are looking for the Wal Mart
online store or maybe even for job openings. But, if you search on a mobile phone, then Google will assume that you are looking for the nearest physical store, and will display results relevant to that.
