What does it mean to wear emotions on your sleeve?

If someone says that “you wear emotions on your sleeve”, what exactly does that mean? It means that you show your emotions openly in public rather than hiding them from other people and keeping them to yourself. So, if you are angry, you show your anger to others rather than keep it to yourself. The idea of “wearing it on your sleeve” conveys the image of openly showing something to others – in this case, your emotions.

Example of wear emotions on your sleeve in a sentence:

"Joe always wears his heart on his sleeve. Whenever
he is annoyed with someone he can't keep it in,
and has to say something."
