What is a “hard copy”?

The phrase “hard copy” basically just means printed pages or copies of something (usually a document) in a printed format that can be physically touched. Soft copies, on the other hand, refer to digital formats of a document – whether it be as a Word document, pdf, on a CD, etc.

Here’s an example of it’s usage:

"Could you please give me a hard copy of that document?"
