Where is the best place to exchange dollars to pounds in London, England?

The best place I found to exchange dollars for pounds in London is a small clothing store called London Travel, which also happens to do money exchange. They gave me the best rate – I was travelling in June of 2012 and the official exchange rate was about 65 pounds for 100 dollars, and I received about 62 pounds from them, which is actually very good when compared to other places.

Great money exchange that is close to Harrods London

So, where is the London Travel store? Well, it’s actually across the street and about 2 blocks away from the world famous Harrods department store on Brompton Road. The closest tube station is Knightsbridge. Here are some pictures that I took of this place to help you find it:

Good Money Exchange that is close to Baker Street Station in London

On the corner of Marylebone Rd and Baker Street, there is a small shop that does money exchange called Eurochange. You’ll see that it is right outside the Baker Street station. Here you will get a decent rate – I received about 58 Pounds for 100 dollars at a time when the official exchange rate was about 65 pounds for 100 dollars. It’s not the best exchange rate I found, but it’s not too bad either. It’s also on the same road as Madam Tussauds, so if you’re in that area it’s a decent place to exchange money. It opens at about 8:00 am.

Should you exchange money at the post office in London?

I’ve read several websites recommending that you exchange money at the post offices in London. I actually found that they give some of the worst rates in London. I think they quoted me something like 56 pounds for 100 dollars at a time when the official exchange rate was about 65 pounds for 100 dollars.
