Do Tennis Players Get Paid for Davis Cup?

Yes, they do get paid for playing at Davis Cup. How much do tennis players get paid for playing at Davis Cup? Well, in his autobiography “A Champions Mind”, Pete Sampras mentioned that players would get anywhere between $15,000 and $20,000 to play in Davis Cup during his playing days, which were in the 90’s to the early 2000’s. I would expect that nowadays the players get more money – probably between $30,000 and $40,000 depending on how big of a crowd actually comes to watch the match (more people watching translates to more revenue, of course).

Is it financially worth playing in Davis Cup?

Technically, the financial benefit is not huge, since Sampras himself noted that for an exhibition match he could easily command $100,000-$200,000 for just a few hours of work, and Davis cup is a week long commitment as well. And players like Nadal and Federer are known to receive up to 1 million dollars for exhibition matches. But, top players are clearly not playing Davis Cup for the financial gain, but instead because they actually enjoy playing for their country.
