Where can you get some good vegetarian food in Waikiki? What are the options there?

If you are a vegetarian visiting the Waikiki area on vacation, then you don’t really need to worry as there are actually a lot of different vegetarian options available to you. I’ll go over just some of the places I went to that had some good vegetarian options.

Dukes – great veggie burger and nachos

Dukes is probably the most popular restaurant in the Waikiki area, and it has a central location right in the middle of the Waikiki strip. I highly recommend their nachos for a great appetizer, and you can easily get those without any meat – the cheese that they use is really good. It’s about $11, but it’s a really big serving. And for the main course, you can get their veggie burger that has a great tasting veggie patty for about $12.

Hula Dog – great veggie hot dogs

Hula Dog is a small hot dog shop also in the middle of Waikiki. They have a good vegetarian hot dog that is good for a snack or a lite lunch – and lots of interesting sauces to go on your hot dog. It is a bit expensive – about $7.00 for a hot dog, but then again so is everything in Waikiki.

Teddy’s Bigger Burgers – great veggie burger

Teddy’s is a burger place very close to the Honololu Zoo on the eastern end of Waikiki (right next to the Park Shore hotel). They have a veggie burger option that is also pretty good.

Surf n Turf Tacos – good veggie burrito

Surf n Turf Tacos is a good, informal Mexican place to eat that is on Kuhio Street, which is the street directly behind the main street of Kalakaua (where all the shops of Waikiki are). They serve a good vegetarian burrito.

The International Market – more vegetarian options

There is a big international market located across the street from the Waikiki Surfrider Westin which small food stalls with all kinds of food. Here you will also find some vegetarian options – like Greek food, Mexican food, etc. It’s worth checking out if you are looking for something that’s sort of like a food court at a mall – the international market is the closest thing to that in Waikiki.

Normal chains – CPK, Cheesecake Factory, P.F. Chang’s

There are also a lot of chain restaurants that do of course offer many vegetarian options like California Pizza Kitchen, Cheesecake Factory, and P.F. Changes that are all in the Waikiki area.
